According to data from the British Bankers Association (BBA) net lending to small to medium sized businesses in the UK reached of £2.1billion in the last quarter of 2015. Nevertheless, many banks are feeling the pressure from alternative finance and peer-to-peer lenders to meet the growing needs of what some estimate make up around 99% of the UK’s private sector businesses.

What strategies are banks using to ease the pace in which credit and loans are made available to these business? Will new alternative providers beat banks in the race for customers? Or will banks look to partner and collaborate with these new FinTech entrants to offer services better matched to the needs of a 21st Century business?
